Heavy-duty industrial insulation for high-temperature and high-vibration environments.

Applications

  • Furnace lagging
  • Heavy boiler installations
  • High-vibration machine bases

Benefits

  • Maximum service temperature
  • Resists vibration-induced settling
  • Best mechanical durability

Features

What makes this material work.

01

Non-combustible

Euroclass A1 fire rating — does not contribute to flame spread or smoke generation.

02

Excellent thermal performance

Low thermal conductivity across the full service-temperature range, including high-temperature industrial use.

03

Acoustic absorption

Open fibre structure absorbs airborne sound; ideal for studios, machine rooms, and partition walls.

04

Dimensional stability

Maintains its shape and insulating value across years of service without slumping.

05

Vapour-permeable

Allows moisture to migrate through the assembly, reducing condensation risk in HVAC ducting.

06

Easy to cut and fit

Cuts cleanly with a sharp knife; conforms easily to curved surfaces such as pipes and tanks.

Industry applications

Where it goes to work.

Manufacturing

Process steam systems

Rockwool lagging on saturated and superheated steam piping reduces heat loss by up to 95% and brings external surface temperatures into safe-touch range.

Food & Beverage

Dairy and food processing

Insulation around CIP loops, sterilisers, and pasteurisers maintains process temperatures, reduces energy use, and protects operators from burns.

Construction

Building envelope insulation

Roof, wall, and partition insulation for commercial buildings, factories, and warehouses across East Africa.

Boiler & Steam Systems

Boiler shell and door lagging

High-density Rockwool maintains boiler skin temperature within HSE-recommended limits and reduces fuel consumption.

Soundproofing & Studios

Studio acoustic treatment

Mineral wool absorbs mid- and low-frequency sound, used in recording studios, broadcast booths, and home theatres.

Use case

In the field.

A Mombasa-based grain processing plant insulated its 12-bar steam distribution network using 100 mm BESS-supplied Rockwool blanket. Surface temperatures dropped from 180 °C to under 45 °C within 48 hours of fitting, reducing personnel-burn risk and cutting boiler fuel consumption by an estimated 11%.

Questions answered

FAQs

What density of Rockwool should I use for steam-pipe lagging?
For saturated steam piping running below 200 °C, 80 kg/m³ Rockwool is standard. For superheated steam or higher boiler-room temperatures, 100–120 kg/m³ is recommended. BESS engineers can specify the right density for your application.
Is Rockwool insulation safe to handle?
Yes. Modern Rockwool fibres are bio-soluble and classified as non-classified by IARC. We still recommend wearing gloves, long sleeves, and a dust mask during installation, as the fibres can cause temporary skin irritation.
How does Rockwool compare to fibreglass for industrial use?
Rockwool has a higher maximum service temperature (750 °C vs ~540 °C for fibreglass), better fire resistance (A1 vs A2 typical), and better acoustic absorption at industrial densities. Fibreglass is lighter and slightly cheaper for low-temperature general insulation.
Do you supply foil-faced Rockwool blanket?
Yes — we stock plain and aluminium-foil-faced variants. Foil-faced product is preferred where vapour control or radiant-heat reflection matters.
What is the lead time on Rockwool blanket in Kenya?
Standard thicknesses (50/75/100 mm) ship same-day from our Nairobi warehouse. Non-stock densities or custom widths typically ship within 3–5 working days.
